MAYWEATHER BOOED AS HE KNOCKS OUT ORTIZ WITH CHEAP SHOT

ORTIZ WITH CHEAP SHOT

(SouthernBelleDish) Floyd Mayweather was booed at the MGM Grand after his win on Saturday night. He floored WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz near the end of the 4th round as Ortiz appeared to be apologizing after an intentional head butt.
Just moments before the knockout, Ortiz backed Mayweather into the ropes and was hitting him with punches, when he head-butted Mayweather, who appeared pissed. Ortiz came over and hugged and kissed Mayweather a moment later, Ortiz again tried to apologize, when Mayweather threw a left hook and hard right and dropped Ortiz.
Replays showed that Ortiz appeared to be looking at referee Cortez when he got hit.
Mayweather remained unbeaten at 42-0 (26 KOs), while Ortiz fell to 29-3-2, 22 KOs and lost his belt in his first defense.
Mayweather, who was guaranteed at least $25 million for the fight and likely will make much more with the pay-per-view revenue, said he did what he had to do.
“After it happened, we were back to fighting, and then I threw the left hook, right hand right after the break. You just have to protect yourself at all times in the ring,” said Mayweather, fighting for the first time in 16 months. “We came together to fight. It is fight time. You want to do me dirty and then two minutes later you want to be my friend? This is the hurting business.
“Only the strong survive. I told you guys I wouldn’t let you down. You wanted to see a knockout and that’s what I gave you.”
Ortiz, 24, who came in as a 4-1 underdog and was paid $2.5 million.
