Beyoncé’s ‘Run the World (Girls)’ Video to Debut on ‘American Idol’

Beyoncé’s “Run the World (Girls), the first video from her album, 4, will debut on tonight’s (May 18) “American Idol.” The video teaser went viral, and fans will appreciate the funky fusion of African beats and techno pop, the artist says.
In case you’re in doubt, you’ve never seen Beyoncé like this, and that’s exactly how she wants it. “It’s definitely riskier,” Beyoncé reportedly confirmed.
And there’s nothing simple about the tune or the video.
Insiders say the full-length video was slated to be released online last week, but there were final editing touches that needed to be made, so only snippets and screenshots surfaced. The clip shows the star, clad in futuristic high fashion, going toe-to-toe with an opposing army in a grunge world.
The video will be released worldwide immediately following the West Coast airing of “American Idol.”
“Rule the World (Girls)” director Francis Lawrence boasted to MTVNews, “I think the video’s gonna be really fun and cool and different for her.”
The visionary Austrian director’s credits include films I Am Legend (Will Smith) and Water for Elephants(2011). Lawrence also has directed videos for Britney Spears and Aerosmith.
Beyoncé promises to kill it, so stay tuned and tell us what you think!
