NeNe leaves this season of Celebrity Apprentice
The Star Jones/NeNe Leakes drama was all the rage this season on Celebrity Apprentice, but it ended with a resounding thud on the ground. Can I get a womp womp?
Let’s face it: Viewers watched the pair’s catty banter on and off the show and anticipated the major boardroom blow-up that never happened. It wasn’t even the fact that the first potential boardroom showdown got pre-empted by President Obama’s epic announcement about bin Laden—because once we saw the clips online it just turned out that Star and NeNe teamed up to send Hope home. It was the fact that NeNe quit that was so disappointing; it makes me regret having watched this season at all.
After all the vitriol and spastic diatribes, the supposed tough lady of The Real Housewives of Atlanta left because she felt that Donald Trump bought into Star’s madness. “I really feel that Star got her way,” Leakes said after the conversation with Trump where he tried to convince her to stay. "Mr. Trump bought into her bulls--t. I don't have to stay with BS to raise money for my charity. The best thing for me to do is leave."
Trump decided to officially fire NeNe in front of the rest of the cast when he announced that she left, which was the right thing to do. She made it to the top five in one of the hardest competitions on reality TV, but then up and left just because she felt the boss wasn’t on her side.
What happened to airing Star out? She kept saying she would take Star down and expose her for what she was (sneaky, manipulative and other adjectives in that vain), but in the end she handed the game directly to her enemy.
Dionne Warwick was harsh when she called NeNe a coward, but being a quitter is no better. Frankly, if Nene were actually a coward that would be a better label to bear, because now, instead of being the sassy housewife that some people grew to love (she’s an acquired taste, I guess), she has solidified her status as the loudmouth Black lady who can’t control her emotions—the woman who turned out to be all bark and no bite.
Star Jones won (despite still being fired last night), and so did Kim Zolciak, because she tried to tell us too (in light of the bus incident).
