The perfectly-placed ponytail she rocked for last night’s Target & Neiman Marcus holiday collaboration launch party in New York took just under 90 minutes of prep time. “It takes so long,” the Girls actress told InStyle.com of her updo style. “There’s something about a ponytail that’s really difficult to do. Even on Girls, when I have to wear a ponytail, they have to allot extra time.” This time though, she had some help. “There’s not a chance I’d be able to do this myself!” she said. But, with some practice, you can, thanks to some expert tips from celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis, who has worked with Kerry Washington, Kirsten Dunst, and Jessica Pare. Francis suggests following the natural line of your cheekbone as a guide when placing your ponytail, and tilting your head back to gather your strands. “It leaves the hair at the nape tight and clean,” he said
