Despite some public bickering and rumors of a break-up, KISS frontman Gene Simmons and his longtime girlfriend Shannon Tweed are set to get married on October 1, OnTheRedCarpet.com has confirmed.
"I am happy to confirm that Gene and Shannon will be getting married in the near future," the couple's spokesperson said on Thursday.
Guess of the wedding have been asked to donate to the couple's favorite charities in lieu of wedding gifts. The charities include the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, kiva.org -- a non-profit organization that seeks to alleviate poverty through micro-loans, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the Pink Lotus Breast Center.
In addition, the family's reality show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" is set to return to A&E on October 4, where all the wedding details will be revealed. "Everything from choosing the flowers and wedding dress to the bachelor and bachelorette parties will unfold in the new season," a statement from Simmons' spokesperson said.
People magazine has a glimpse at the wedding invitations, which were personalized by their children. The ivory invitations included a special message from the children announcing "Team Tweed-Simmons" with a stenciled portrait of the family drawn by Nick and a poem by Sophie.
Simmons, 61, and Tweed, a 54-year-old former Playboy Playmate and actress, have been together for at least 28 years and have a 22-year-old son named Nick and an 18-year-old daughter named Sophie.
On the season 6 finale of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," Simmons got down on one knee on a pier and asks a tearful Tweed to marry him. Her answer was not shown.
Tweed later posted Twitter messages about the episode, saying: "I love you all!!! See you in the fall!!!! Trust me. It was the hardest decision I ever had to make. My whole life flashed before my eyes. Did you see how long I stood there? Mind racing.."
Tweed said on the season premiere of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," which aired in June, that she was tired of Simmons' "wandering eye." The rocker has famously claimed to have bedded some 5,000 women.
The two bickered during an interview with Joy Behar on her HLN show that month and Tweed was seen storming out.
